Ukraine's children are living in fear. They face ever-present danger of being killed, injured or suffering severe emotional distress.
The war is forcing children and families to shelter in basements and bomb shelters to escape explosions. They have already lived through eight years of conflict, enduring violence, shelling, and being forced to flee their homes. 7.5 million Ukraine children are now in danger. Amid freezing temperatures, power cuts and food shortages, every day is a struggle to survive. Families are forced to flee their homes.
They need urgent help accessing water, shelter, and food.
Our very own mini-DJ George has decided to help. He is attempting to run 100km in 30 days to raise money for the children of Ukraine. No mean feat for an 8 year old!!!
What are you doing?
I am running 100km around Poole during the next month to raise koney for the Save the Children Ukraine appeal.
Why did you decided to do this?
I have seen things about the war on Newsround and spoken to my mum and dad about it. It makes me upset because children shouldn't have to go through this - they have the right to stay safe and have fun.
What is your target?
My original target was £150 but I smashed through that after 24 hours from my friends and family. Then i increased my target to £1000 but I have beaten that as well - now my target is £1500!
What gave you the idea?
I remember when Captain Tom went around his garden and raised lots of money. I hope that I do the same!
